The Desert Sands Unified School District approved two measures at its board meeting Tuesday night aimed at mitigating staff shortages caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
For one, the district entered into an independent contractor agreement with Scoot.Education, an education staffing firm that works across California and several other states, to provide 10 certificated substitute teachers daily during the remainder of the 2021-22 school year.
In addition, the district approved a contract with Elevo Learning to provide 21 recess “coaches” daily at elementary school sites for the remainder of the school year.
