Thriving in 2024: Resolutions for Students Inside and Outside the Classroom

The start of a new year brings new beginnings and new opportunities for continued success. We always want to encourage our students to set goals for themselves, creating something positive to focus on all year long. These goals can be made both for their time inside the classroom and outside of it. Here are a few resolutions for students that can foster academic and personal success.

Resolutions for Students Inside the Classroom

Set New Study Habits

Our main focus may be to help students thrive beyond classroom walls, but we also provide our students with the academic support they need to be successful within the classroom, as well. The strategies we share with them can be transformed into New Year’s Resolutions as they take a critical look at their study routines.

Try a New Activity

While academics are a big part of school, they aren’t the only educational arena where students can shine. Whether it’s a student-led organization on campus, a sports team, or a fun extracurricular class, diverse activities will help students become more well-rounded. In fact, many students in our enrichment programs have the opportunity to find their new favorite interests. Cultivating these interests can make for a fun way to kick off the new year.

Seek Help When Needed

When facing challenges, students should understand that asking for help is not a sign of weakness. Elevo coaches, teachers, other adults on campus, or even their peers can be the support they need. From working together with other students to form study groups or requesting extra help from their teachers, building an academic support system can make a world of a difference.

Choose a New Hobby

As students tap into new interests in the classroom, those can translate to fun activities outside the classroom. If they discover that they enjoy art projects or physical education, they may want to challenge themselves by taking an art class at their local community center or joining a sports league.

Embrace a Support System

Never underestimate the power of positive influence! With a supportive community made up of loved ones, students can strengthen their existing friendships and gain the confidence necessary to make new ones. They’ll also be more inclined to overcome challenges and celebrate all wins.

Manage Time

Time management is not easy, so giving students the tools to start building those habits now is critical. Young learners thrive in routine. Creating a realistic schedule that allows for both academic and personal success is key to staying organized all school year long.

Final Thoughts

As students step into this new year, it’s important to remind them that resolutions are not just about making changes, but embracing a journey of growth. By focusing on both their academic and personal development, they’ll set the stage for a fulfilling year ahead. Here’s to another year of learning, thriving, and growing!
